Our History
Breakfast Point is deeply rooted in the history of the land that it rests on. In 1788, the First Fleet arrived in Sydney and Captain John Hunter set about charting the harbour. His records show that on the morning of the fifth day of his work, he sailed west up the river that is now known as the Parramatta River. After traveling approximately 10 kilometers, he put ashore to make tea and have refreshments. He made his first charting point at this spot and aptly christened it – Breakfast Point.
Just over two centuries later in the year 2000, Rose Group founders Bob and Margaret Rose were given the opportunity of a lifetime to develop a new community at Breakfast Point—a dream come true for the Roses. Sons Bryan and Stuart Rose were instrumental in the infant stages of the project considering the principles of design and preparing the tender documents which won the highly competitive tender process to develop the harbour front village.
Years of careful research and master planning preceded the creation of the new community based on principles of tradition, comfort, style, leisure living and community with family, friends and neighbours. The Rose family has always strived to uphold these principles and as the company grows, the pursuit of excellence in Rose development is paramount.
"Our company, Rose, is a family business and we believe in the same values and qualities that are important to you and your family. When we shaped the plans for the future of Breakfast Point, we were inspired not only by the site’s heritage and scenic harbour front setting, but by our vision of a neighbourhood with a special sense of place and character." Margaret Rose
